How Often Should You Clean It?

In the best circumstances, you would be cleaning your car wrap as soon as it gets dirty or stains appear. Taking care of these details as soon as possible ensures dirt, grime, debris, and stains don’t have time to sit and create bigger (sometimes irreversible) problems.

Things like bug splatter, bird droppings, road chemicals, pollution, dust, and tree sap shouldn’t be underestimated. For starters, you can use denatured alcohol to loosen their grip and gently remove them without lifting off any pigment or any part of the vinyl.

DO NOT:

  • Use abrasive, rough scrubbing tools
  • Press or scrub too hard, even with soft sponges
  • Let product sit (it can disintegrate the film and pigment)
  • Use brush car washes (they can damage the graphic by making it dull, scratched and lifting the edges off)
  • Use car waxes, abrasive polishes, or other compounds and products

DO

  • Hand wash your vehicle
  • Use a soft, clean cloth or sponge
  • Use warm, soapy water
  • wipe off fuel immediately
  • Park your vehicle indoors, under shade to avoid the sun from fading the graphics. Rain can also contain acidity that can break down the vinyl and color graphics

Remember, the theory that less is more also applies to care for your vinyl car wrap. A simple cleaning routine with little product and gentle tools and techniques reigns supreme.
