With fall finally, here, winter is fast approaching, especially in Canada. Our winters in Vancouver are rainy, harsh and when there’s snow involved it’s important to be aware of how to care for your Vancouver vinyl car wrap.

The right care practices not only prolong the life of your car wrap but also ensure it looks well kept, enhancing your business’ image amongst the public. This is important in keeping your target audience engaged and establishing a strong reputation. A scratched, faded, peeling or dirty car wrap gives the impression that you don’t care for your business or its assets and makes your target audience question whether or not you would do the job well.

Avoid Ice Scrapers

First and foremost, when frost and water begin freezing on your windshield, avoid using an ice scraper as it can significantly damage your vinyl car wrap. You can take off pigment, scratch off the outermost layers, prematurely fade the wrap and peep off the corners. To avoid this, use a soft brush or a cloth and rub the snow off gently, you can also use a towel soaked in warm water to melt it off. Another option? Hose the vehicle down with some warm (not hot) water and let the water do all the work for you and anything that remains, can gently be wiped off once it’s loosened.

Avoid letting Salt Sit on the Wrap

Salt isn’t the best for the environment and animals, nor is it good for your vehicle’s wrap as it can corrode the wrap and dehydrate it if it’s not cleaned off right away. If you can’t wash off salt after every use, wash your vehicle at least once a week to prevent salt from building up on your car and shortening its life span.

Regularly Spot Clean

After every time that you take your car out, make sure to assess the state of your vehicle and spot clean it if you notice bird droppings tree sap, bug splatter or other substances from the road or weather stuck to your wrap. If these things are left on for too long, they will stain and even corrode your Vancouver vinyl car wrap.
